New computer, who dis?

My old laptop was a workhorse that took a beating, but unfortunately I was simply asking it to do too much too consistently. It decided, understandably, that it wasn’t going to do the things I wanted it to do.

I was willing to put up with some slowness and not being able to use some photo editing sites, but when a pixel on the screen went out, that was it… I know once it starts going with one, the rest follow soon after.

I was lucky enough to get approved for credit on NewEgg, so I grabbed a refurbished computer with much better specs in the hopes that it’d be more powerful for everything I throw at it. So far, so good! I’ve been getting it set up yesterday and today. It’s much faster, just right off the bat, as I went from 6gb RAM to 16gb RAM. I tried one of the photo editing programs I couldn’t use before, and it worked flawlessly. I’m a happy girl. 🙂

There was a bit of a snafu pairing my Bluetooth headset, but some new drivers and some tweaking got that sorted as well. Now I just have to get used to this one. As a writer, you get used to the layout of your keys when you’re writing, the way they feel under your fingertips. Changing keyboards messes up your flow, and causes typos galore. This one has a number pad as well, and my last one didn’t, so it seems like everything is shifted very far left. I’m unused to that.

As I’m writing this blog post, though, it seems to be getting better. There may be hope for me yet! I’ve been watching Pandemic on Netflix, researching for the dystopian novel I’ve mentioned. Also checking out some true crime shows that I haven’t seen yet to work on more ideas for The Contagion Effect series. My goal is to hopefully get some things ready for 2021 for everyone following along with me.

In the meantime, you can always check out for my other writings, where I’ve got several things happening this year!
